Coasts, levels, season, etiquetteHow the forecast works
We take marine model data for each coast, split the swell into its separate trains, and score every spot hour by hour against its own swell window, wind direction and preferred tide. The map draws those swell trains as moving wave fronts coloured by energy, so you can see where the swell is hitting before you drive.
Questions
How does Canary Surf rate surf spots?
Each spot gets a 0 to 10 score per hour from swell energy inside the break's direction window, wave period, wind quality for that coast and tide fit. The best hour of daylight is shown with a window.
Where does the forecast data come from?
Wave, wind and tide figures come from the Open-Meteo marine model on a grid of roughly 5 to 8 km. Spot details such as ideal swell, wind and tide are curated from surf guides and local knowledge.
Which islands are covered?
